I remember a Newsnight report from John Simpson 3-4 years ago concerning the
plight of some islands in the Pacific under threat from sea level rises. It
was all hand wringing stuff you know "aren't well evil in the west" etc
etc.....
Well you know what? For all that BBC middle-class lefty guilt and thrashing
with birch leaves, the Islands are still there and nothings changed.

Feb. 20 (Bloomberg) -- The prime minister of the South Pacific atoll chain of
Tuvalu blamed global warming for ``king tides'' that are threatening to
submerge the nine islands, Agence France-Presse reported.

The tides began covering the lowest points in the country late yesterday,
flooding homes, offices and part of the airport, AFP said. Higher tides are
expected over the next two days. The highest point in Tuvalu, the former
Ellice Islands, is 4.5 meters (15 feet) above sea level. The king tides, once
rare for the islands, now occur every two years, Prime Minister Saufatu
Sopo'aga told AFP.
