I guess that your rainfall has made no real impression on the surface.
When I was up in the SE 2 weeks ago I was staggered as to how dry it
was. Even though it has been an extremely dry winter in the SW we are
positively basking in surface moisture in comparison!

.... still (1112Z) coming down at a steady moderate pace - will check the
extra amount ~12Z. Beginning to be quite 'useful', at least as regards
soil moisture, but we would need many more such events to make any
impact on the overall hydrology of this winter so far hereabouts.
