I am situated just below the higher parts of Wash Common in Newbury
and am approximately situated at 107amsl AFAIK (that's precise I
suppose). I am pretty much in the suburbs of Newbury and it is often
noted that when snow falls up at Wash Common, during the same event,
it would be plain ole rain in the town centre.

.... thanks for that info: I am always surprised how much conditions can
differ over short distances - sometimes, for example, Bernard's
(Wokingham/Emmbrook) & our (Bracknell/Tawfield) conditions can show
marked differences - and yet the two 'towns' are adjacent, and the
Wokingham Borough boundary is a short, brisk walk away! However, on the
ground, the Wokingham site is some 6 km, bearing 300° from us.

Martin.
