I agree with that but I'd rather they did it without risking the lives
innocent bystanders as well.

Just remember that most of the country hasn't seen snow covered roads for
many a year. A significant number of drivers have never driven on
anything other than wet roads, they just don't know how to drive on snow.
Most seem to think that pressing the "go" pedal and have the wheels
wildly spinning is the way to drive on snow. It's not, you are not in
control of the vehicle with spinning wheels and have *very* much reduced
traction.

Gentle on go pedal, high gear (2nd or 3rd), clutch control for starting
off, look ahead, anticipate, engine braking to slow down, gentle use of
brakes if at all (a locked wheel is just as bad for control as a spinning
one).
