That's sad Graham ,if the kits are no longer available, like you I built mine
from a kit 25 years ago,and its still going strong .Can't see any reason why
it won't go on for ever providing its kept well painted, mind it was a bugger
to paint originally, all those slats three coats !, .had to spread it out
all over the lawn on newspaper, much to the disapproval of the boss.....

Trevor,

Got mine from www.met-check.co.uk (01296 7122354)

Made well enough, but the paint was a bit thin - put an extra coat on

But why are they so bloody expensive? I don't see why they should cost
more than, say £100.

Agree, they suppliers would argue the turnover is small.

The iron stand was poor. Came painted, but after just 2 weeks in the salty
sea air it was starting to rust, so had to paint that as well.

My 1stt Stevenson Screen was bought as a kit, which you had to paint & put
together, time consuming but it lasted 25 years. This one's a year old,
interesting to see how well it will last. You can't get kits anymore (as
far as I'm aware).
