There is a noaa18 HRPT image of the Gulf Bothnia on my web page from just
before midday today. The ice covered areas are not in doubt. The areas you
mention, Phil, are usually joined by ice at this time of year and before.

I am used to seeing ice at the Northern (top) end of the Gulf of Bothnia
at
this time of year, but is it unusual to see the ice around Aland and the
Finnish Islands west of Turku ? Seems not much further to go before the
ice
reaches Sweden!
