Thousands of north Georgians woke up Thursday morning to a blanket of
snow outside, leaving thousands without power and dozens of schools and
businesses closed for the day.
High winds knocked down trees and power lines early Thursday, cutting
power to as many as 61,000 homes, said Lynn Wallace, spokeswoman for
Georgia Power.
