That's true, there are hiking trails up Nobscot Mountain (Knox Council Boy
Scout Reserve). It's open to the public except when there are scout
campouts. But Callahan is part huge flat field, so you have an almost 360
degree to horizon view of the night sky.

I'm not sure exactly where that is... I was thinking a good spot near
you might be that Boy Scout reservation area up on Edgell.. but I don't
know if that is accessible to the public, or if it filled up with snow
etc at this point.
If you went up route 2 a ways you could probably find a much darker
spot...
