Let me rephrase that:

How often do equinoctual storms occur in the UK? We didn't have the
winter solstice one this (last) year. I wonder if there is something in
that? Mind you didn't Norway or someplace handy host the regular
Christmas Shipwreck? I suppose even Panamanians keep their eyes open
sometimes. (Lucky they closed them again when they left UK waters.)


Here the winter just past didn't have any gales of note.
How can an equinoctinal gale occur at the solstice anyway?
