I googled for anything about the recent events there in groups and on
the wider wonder whatever and came up with nothing curent.
I did find these sites after asking around though:
http://www.jwa.or.jp/english/index.html
A Japanese weather site with hourly pics from GOES. If you follow the
links use your back button or it may revert to Japanese language.
https://www.npmodsasebo.navy.mil/
This one is the US Military site in Japan. It links to this advisory:
https://www.npmoc.navy.mil/cgi-bin/a...ate.cgi?File=2
Which is rather cryptic about the state of affairs in and around Japan
for some reason:
POOR Area
THE AREA OF CONVECTION PREVIOUSLY LOCATED NEAR 24.0N6 126.2E1 IS NOW
LOCATED NEAR 24.6N2 126.0E9, APPROXIMATELY 250 NM EAST OF TAIPEI,
TAIWAN. RECENT ANIMATED MULTISPECTRAL IMAGERY REVEALS A WELL DEFINED
LOW-LEVEL CIRCULATION CENTER (LLCC), HOWEVER IT IS ALMOST FULLY
EXPOSED. CONVECTION REMAINS CYCLIC AND CONFINED PRIMARILY TO THE
SOUTHWEST AND NORTHWEST REGIONS. UPPER LEVEL ANALYSIS INDICATES
MODERATE TO HIGH VERTICAL WIND SHEAR TO THE WEST WITH WEAKER VERTICAL
WIND SHEAR TO THE EAST. DIVERGENCE OVER THE LLCC IS UNFAVORABLE.
MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE ESTIMATED AT 10 TO 15 KNOTS. MINIMUM SEA
LEVEL PRESSURE IS ESTIMATED AT 1006 MB. THE POTENTIAL FOR THE
DEVELOPMENT OF A SIGNIFICANT TROPICAL CYCLONE WITHIN THE NEXT 24 HOURS
IS POOR.
