5.4.4 Wind Gust. The wind speed data for the most recent 10 minutes shall be
examined to evaluate the
occurrence of gusts. Gusts are indicated by rapid fluctuations in wind speed
with a variation of 10 knots
or more between peaks and lulls. The speed of a gust shall be the maximum
instantaneous wind speed.

Can someone give me the exact definition of what a "gust wind" is? I
haven't been able to find it on the Net. I assume that is measuring the
wind speed for a certain amount of time and the wind speed is above
some minimal standard value. Assuming that this is the definition, what
is the amount of time that it is measured for and what is the minimal
speed to be considered a gust wind? And are there any other factors
that need to be taken into account for it to be considered a gust wind?
Thanks for your help
