I think you are referring to Jainists, not BuDDhists.
(Please note the correct spelling, two "d"s.) The
majority of Buddhists wouldn't care about stepping
on bugs. As Buddhists are a very diverse bunch
of people, there could be a few sects who do care
about stepping on bugs. However, I don't
personally know of any. I'll ask around and see.
