This forecast represents the *PERSONAL OPINION* of the Chief forecaster at the

unfold next week. The Chief forecaster will take no responsibility whatsoever

Summary valid for Sunday 16/04/06 to Saturday 22/04/06/
TOI (time of issue) Thursday 13/04/06 0930 UK local time

This summary is based on a quick appraisal of the GFS, JMA, ECMWF, UKMO, FAX,
and ENS (NCEP ensemble) labelled charts available from the superb
http://www.wetterzentrale.de/topkarten

Moderate confidence for a lot of dry weather in the south until at least the end
of the week. More changeable further north and low to moderate confidence that,
after a warm interlude mid-week, cold northerly winds will sweep down next
weekend bringing wintry showers and a return to frost at night, especially in
the north.

From Sunday to Tuesday moderate to fresh northwesterly winds will bring a lot of
cloud but mainly dry weather with sunny intervals to southern Britain.
Temperatures near average with still a risk of ground frost at night. From
northern England northwards there will be showers, especially in western areas
where some could be heavy, and here it will be rather cool at times.

On Wednesday a ridge coming in from the west will introduce lighter winds coming
in from the southwest. All areas will turn warmer with spells of sunshine.
Perhaps turning warm in the southeast with temperatures approaching 20C in a few
spots.

Probably staying warm and dry in the SE on Thursday but a new Atlantic low will
be spreading rain and strengthening west or southwest winds into northern and
western areas. Some of the rain will be heavy in the west with a lot of hill and
coastal fog. Temperatures returning to about average.

On Friday rain and strong winds will spread to all areas, most rain in the west
and north, and then it will turn colder and brighter in the north with showers
as winds swing into the northwest staying fresh to strong.

On Saturday a cold northerly airflow will become established giving sunny spells
and showers, showers turning wintry in the north and heavy and thundery with
hail in the south, especially the SE. Frost returning Saturday night. Low
confidence in detail.
