Glen Ogle 7.1°C, Lerwick 9.0°C, Fair Isle 9.3°C, Loch Glascarnoch 9.8°C,
Ballypatrick 10.4°C.

Charlwood 16.4°C, Bridlington and Heathrow 16.5°C, Great Malvern,
Bournemouth and Shoreham 16.9°C, Farnborough 17.0°C, Thorney Island
17.4°C, Herstmonceux 18.5°C, Solent MRSC 18.7°C.

I was visiting my daughter in Lee-on-Solent between 4 and 5pm BST and
it certainly was a beautifully warm late afternoon that felt just like
a pleasant summer's day. We discussed how this was "perfect" weather -
any warmer would have felt uncomfortable in T shirts!

The met office obs page for Solent confirms that the max probably
coincided with my visit, about 16Z, 17 BST, and a gentle W. breeze.
Two hours later, the essentially offshore (from the New Forest) wind
had increased and backed to a SW onshore wind from the Solent and
Channel, accompanied by a sharp temperature drop from nearly 19 deg C
to 13 deg C.

Sudden local variations like this are fascinating and it's one reason
why I like it near the coast (apart from lack of snow!). My own daily
max, 5 miles inland was 18.3 degrees.
