Default Wrong sort of rain for radar?

I noticed that no rainfall appeared on the UKMO radar for my area until
4.00pm, not even the "slight" blue. It was raining more or less continuously
here from about 11.30 a.m. It was mainly moderate (what we tend to call fine
rain) but nevertheless amounted to 3mm. Did anyone else notice that?

Less than that here (though I haven't measured it yet) but quite
a spell of rain so "fine" I'd call it drizzle. Maybe the droplets were
too small to be detected by radar.
