BRACKNELL (TAWFIELD)
0900 WSW F3 28km - 4/CS 7/CI T178D101
RMK: [COTRA, CAVOK]- complete/moderate intensity 22° halo from 4Cs
(previously complete cover)~250 or higher, underneath (as far as I can
tell - might not be far from), 7Ci/COTRA~300+. The condensation trails
were very striking a couple of hours earlier, with remarkable 'spread'
about the axis of each trail and considerable variation in character -
showing instability.
[ OVERNIGHT DATA (18Z - 09Z):
screen min: 09.3 grass min: 07.7 precipitation: NIL [24hr total: 00.0
mm]
other data: Noctilucent cloud (NLC) visible towards NE horizon diffusely
through dense Ci 0200Z. Given the density of the cirrus, must have been
a bright event. ]=

1400 NW F3 60KM - 1/AC 6/CI T226D054
RMK: [CAVOK] - surface wind highly variable over past hour - up to F4
for short periods, then smartly down to F1/2. Not quite a 'chaotic' sky
yet, but not far off: 1Ac (single patch) broken/thin~120, 1AcAs(distant
to N-NE), perhaps the edge of something~150, 1Ci (dense/hooked
[flo/unc]), with virga streams)~220, 6Ci (variable, from dense to
thin)~280 - and no doubt others beside. Despite that, still a nice
afternoon!=

1800 WNW F2 60km RE-SHRA 1/AC 7/AC //CI T216D086
RMK: 1Ac castellatus (distant)~090, 7Ac with slight mammatus
characteristics~100, Ci above, but can't determine extent of cover.
Recent shower from medium level instability - quite literally a few
drops only.
[ DAYTIME DATA (09Z - 18Z):
screen max: 24.2 precipitation: tr
other data: Looks as if the worst of the PPN threat is past - sky has a
look of gentle stabilisation, and to the NW, I can see a brighter edge
to the Ac sheet.]=
