Interesting edition of Panorama tonight indicating the Bush
administrations 'watering down' of the science proving Global Warming
and
subsequent Climate Change. Nest programme on the 'Climate Chaos' is
BBC2
Tuesday at 9pm. I wonder how much is hidden from our view?

Come on Keith it was emotional and subjective. They never interviewed one
GW
contrarian, Added to that, the fact that the UN runs the IPCC and the UN
have no problems in venting their spleens. against the USA. What this
programme was about was alleged pressure and censorship on USA scientist
actually NASA. Well in my experience of any Nasa output has always
acknowledged global warming.

Panorama has presented an emmotional leftish tinged view of the great
satan
America. Why is it always America?

It's not about NASA; it's about the Bush administration,
which is not the same thing.
Why is it always America? Because America is the most
profligate user of natural rescources, especially oil, and the
administration with its oil connections, and for other reasons, wants
to convince people that the effect of all this is negligible and seems
to be suppressing the truth in order to do so. Simple, really.

Tudor Hughes, Warlingham, Surrey.

Why is the USA profligate and yet the inhabitants of the Islands that
constitute Tuvalu aren't?

Is it because they drive cars- well it's a big country just as is Australia
whereas Tuvalu is a collection of small Islands under threat from rising
sea-levels yet they all drive cars.

America is a vast country with weather extremes hence the use of energy for
heating and cooling.
The thing with the USA is the standard of living being relatively high means
that people are prepared to spend part of their income on energy. Further to
that it has to be said energy is not a tax rip off like here in the UK where
I believe petrol is taxed at 81%.

Other countries would be just as "profligate" if they could afford it or
their fuel had a lower tax rating.
So what should Bush do increase tax on fuel so that people pay more for it?
Then push up wage demands and raise business costs?.

No one holds a gun to anyone's head and makes them consume petrol or energy
in other states.

Off course the Labour Party buffoon Prescott, who wants to build a million
new homes in the south east to avenge his failure of the 11 plus, cares
greatly about Global Taxing......erm sorry cooling.

Why it was only yesterday in the USA , Rhode Island to be precise that
"Johnny two jags" gave a speech about the perils of global warming. In
typical "do as I say" fashion Mr Prescott was chauffeured to the conference
in a Jaguar car from his Hotel a couple of blocks away, or two hundred yards
to be precise!

This was the man who when asked about a particularly rough flight said he
was
"glad to get his feet back on Terracotta"
