Default European monsoon

Looking at the charts this morning shows the onset of the "European monsoon"
after an early spell of hot weather. Cooler west to northwest winds spread
across Britain by Wednesday. However, it looks weak this year and as per my
forecast issued last thursday I'm not expecting a lot of rain in the south
although there will be some.

Will.

Is this the same thing as the "curse of late June"? Practically every
year, there is a spell of bad weather in the last 10 days of June,
spilling over into July. I regularly organise an outdoor event sometime
close to the summer solstice, and almost every year, it's subject to
rain and/or low cloud.

Furthermore, July 1st has, IIRC, only been completely rain-free in the
Southampton twice since 1995, namely in 1995 and 2001.

But it seems like high pressure will return by next weekend, so the
very end of the month may be ok this year.
