....or else, the first heatwave day for Athens this summer. Temperatures
may have not had the chance to climb higher than +35.2C in my parts of
the city, but downtown it was a different story as the air was feeling
simply too hot, especially in well sunlit narrow streets. Nea
Filadelfia, just NW of the city centre, made it to +38C while suburbs by
the sea never exceeded +32C. Several stations in Thessaly crossed the
+37C threshold, too.
Drama, in eastern Macedonia, reported a drop in temperature by 17
Centigrades when calm, hot conditions gave place to a thunderstorm that
had just crossed the bulgarian border. Thunderstorms were reported later
throughout much of central and eastern Macedonia (they are now situated
over the northern Aegean), as well as in Volos (eastern Thessaly) and
the Peloponnesian highlands. Temperature maxima for today to be viewed
