Fog, fog, and yet more fog.

P.S. Did I mention the fog?

No, but you could have quoted Bill Giles (I think it was, or maybe
Michael Fish) just in case some people hadn't heard the story.

On his magnetic board, the F would stick. Bill tried a few times,
gave
up and apologized for the "F in fog".

.... although the phrase is often attributed to the weather presenters as
being the ones to originate it (and they have undoubtedly used the term,
or something like it), I think the 'honour' if such it is, belongs to
Dickie Davies when he was a presenter on Southern Television - he read
out the scripted forecast just before close-down (remember those?) over
the caption, from which the 'F' in fog had slipped away. I can
distinctly remember Ian McCaskill having problems with one presentation
with the letters, but his favourite trick was to place the letters such
that they read 'G-O-F' rather than 'F-O-G'.

Martin.
