Default Romsey - Wednesday 5th July 2006

RMK... the rain has not stopped since 1140Z varying from
slight to heavy. Day darkness observed between
1315Z and 1325Z during a period of slight rain
(embedded CB nearby?)

Drier down the road in Southampton - didn't count but I think it was
dry from about 1100BST to about 1400BST, then something of a period of
rain (non thundery) then dry again since 1430BST.
Without figures I'd also say it was a couple of degrees warmer too,
particularly before about 1400BST.

Typical Hampshire storm really though.... we never get the more
dramatic affairs of the Midlands and north on the one hand, or France
on the other. All Hampshire storms seem to follow this pattern: about
an hour of thunder, two hours of steady rain, then 24 hours of gloom,
I'd guess from the residual gunk from old decayed imported storms from
France.
