I can't say that I have noticed Flowering Cherry setting seed before.
Or is it a species that relies on cross pollination?

Anyway not only was the late flowering of the cherries this year one
of the most splendid I have seen, there are cherries ripening for
harvest now.

The only trouble is they taste ghastly. I went down to the local
supermarket to try a real one (they are not a favourite fruit item.
I'm more your pork and beans type) and all I could taste was something
remeniscent of water.

All in all an excellent year for trees.

Despite the OT'd -ness, I've got to agree - my apple tree has gone mad!

And my plum tree.
