Latest GFS ensembles are increasing confidence in a long hot and dry spell for
the UK with an upper high becoming established and temperatures climbing from
this weekend. 30-35C certainly looks on the cards for southern Britain next
week. Chance of some patchy rain in NW Scotland and a few thunderstorms in SW
Britain. July can often be a cyclonic month with relatively low pressure, for
such a pattern forecast to become established so early is worrying.
The English Riviera is going to be packed with people seeking relief from the
heat of the cities :-)
Some forecasts are going for a stiff E/NE breeze over the weekend at
least, which could make East Anglia cooler. Here's hoping we don't end
up with Haar all weekend :-\
