Default [OBS] Bracknell (Tawfield) Fri 14 Jul 2006

Friday, 14 July 2006
BRACKNELL (TAWFIELD)
0900 NE F4 45km - 4/CU T172D089
RMK: 4Cu hum~030. Could almost code as Sc but the mechanism is
obviously convection initiated to temperatures above ~15. Clear above.
Pleasant, if rather gusty wind.
[ OVERNIGHT DATA (18Z - 09Z):
screen min: 11.0 grass min: 09.5 precipitation: NIL [24hr total: tr] ]=
1400 E F4-5 60km - 1/CI T227D086
RMK: [CAVOK] - 1Ci~300+. The tops of the dry thermals are just about
betrayed by embryonic condensation & immediate evaporation such that
they look as if they are topped by haze - must be highly sheared given
the strength and variability of the wind - the Swifts are having to come
very low to catch the many insects, as the latter aren't rising very
far - and this in turn has brought the Kestrels (a pair recently) down
lower as well. A superb day - feels considerably warmer than the 23C in
the screen, with strong sunshine.=

1800 ENE F4 45km - 1/CI T216D093
RMK: [CAVOK] - 1Ci spi~300+. Wind F5 for lengthy spells this afternoon,
with a short period (around half-an-hour) of true F6 mid-afternoon.
[ DAYTIME DATA (09Z - 18Z):
screen max: 23.5 precipitation: NIL
other data: Item on BBC 'South Today': two heath fires today, one in
North Hampshire & one in SW Surrey. With the wind & humidity as it is,
I'm surprised we haven't had something closer to home. ]=
