Just returned this morning from another overseas trip and was struck
how dry and brown much of SE (especially eastern Essex and central
London) England and South Central (especially near Newbury) England
looked from the air, and it is only mid-July ! It would be interesting
to get some ground reports from Essex...ping Keith ??

Cracking day today...max +27.2 deg. C (+1.5 deg. C 24-hr temp anomaly
for the month so far).

Regards,
Richard.

Only 9.0mm for me at Southend-on-Sea Richard, starting to get pretty
parched due to the low humidity, something Will mentioned last week.

A bit more here as we were lucky enough to catch a 10mm downpour on the 5th
although most of it ran off. 15mm so far but only 14mm in June. Played
cricket in mid-north Essex today and the square was very parched and
cracking. Harvest well under way throughout County and a very good one it
looks too.
