Part of their pay depends on getting forecasts right but they deliberately
get them wrong for Health & Safety reasons? Yes, that seems likely.

That's quite an accusation if it refers to the actual
temperature values being deliberately inflated as opposed to merely
exaggerating the *effects* of high temperatures. I'd like to think the
Met Office or the BBC haven't descended to those depths, but maybe they
have.
Max temp here 32.4°C, 0.9°C higher than yesterday. Last
night's min was 10.4° and the diurnal range is within 0.1° of my
record (starting 1983).
