I thought it didn't feel as hot as all that in the
Southampton/Winchester area. The temperature chart shows a 'cool'
tongue of 29C max penetrating inland in this area.

Hi Nick, it peaked at 32.1 here in West Fareham and the Southampton
A/P METARS had 32 deg C from 1150 to 1250GMT.

The two apparently inland "reports" of 29 deg C on the Wetteronline
map are almost certainly the coastal stations at Solent MRSC and
Thorney Island, both of which were held back by the onset of a sea
breeze in the early afternoon.

By the time the sea breeze reached here 5 miles inland, it did no more
than produce a short lived line of small fluffy cumulus and a small
temperature drop from 32 to 31.

Cheers, Dave
West Fareham.

Nick and Dave,

Max of +33.0C in Romsey today, equalled the warmest July day
with 1976.

Cheers,

Nigel (Romsey, Hampshire).
