Met Office has some funny idea on how to stay cool

I think today is going to be worse for me than yesterday. My max downstairs
was 27, some eight degrees lower than outside, but this morning I've had
all windows wide open and can't get below 24. Trouble is the external walls
are one-foot-thick solid concrete and act as storage radiators.
I've noticed this storage radiator effect since moving to a new house from one
that had loads of trees around it to provide shade.
Now my lawn chair sits outside the front door on concrete, with a brick wall
a couple of feet behind it and a brick porch support on its right. For
the first four months of this year, it was pleasant to sit there after
sundown (about 19:30 local time), but from then on, the stored heat from the
sun fairly pours out of these bricks and up from the concrete! It's like
sitting in a brick oven. Eight-thirty or later is the earliest I can go out
there now.
