Default Large positive N Atlantic SST anomaly

That's one for the forecasters, not me.

Cheers, Alastair.

What is that likely to mean for our weather?

Had a look today at the FNOC site - OTIS SST anomaly page:

https://152.80.49.210/PUBLIC/

I am amazed at the extent of the North Atlantic/Arctic SST anomaly - I
can't remember having seen it so extensive before. Given the world map I
wonder if it means that for some reason the North Atlantic drift is
penetrating deeper and more systematically into the area?

I have the impression that the flow is slowing but the warm salty water is

no
longer sinking. Perhaps it is too warm. See

I would be interested in what others think.
Cheers, Alastair.
