destructive - turning over stones, digging down into the front 'lawn',
attacking the gutters etc., presumably looking for any insect life they
can find now that nestlings are in short supply.

Yes, I regularly see magpies here, and a couple of jays too, as
well as the ubiquitous mega-pigeons.
