destructive - turning over stones, digging down into the front 'lawn',
attacking the gutters etc., presumably looking for any insect life they
can find now that nestlings are in short supply.


Years ago at one of the stations I was at, someone wrote in the daily
register: "sunshine card eaten by owl". It was suggested the bird was
attracted by the flavour of the chemicals with which the cards were
treated.
