I remember distinctly one cold Saturday evening in January 1970 my old dad
standing up and saying to my mum

"Audrey, put your coat on"

My mum full of anticipation said

"Why Tom, are you taking me out?"

"No" he said

"I'm going out so I'm turning the heating off to save a few bob!"
