Well by my records

August last year was similar to this year with a lot of average
temperatures, and a few days above average. Then on the 31st I recorded
31.9C.

One slight difference this year is that it's rained on all bar 3 days
(so, 7) so far this month. Last August it rained on 9 days through the
whole month.
