I have to question the official statistics for Torquay today, 8 miles
down the coast?
According to BBC Ceefax page 407, Torquay was the sunniest place in the
UK with 10.8hrs of sunshine.
It has been virtualy cloudy all day here in Teignmouth, South Devon.
Even allowing for the fact that any sunshine after 18:00 yesterday
would have been included, this is utter nonsense.
Could the Ceefax page still have been showing the previous day's
reading? At what time of day does the page get updated?

John, the discrepancy between the two adjacent stations is one
that's been pointed out before, from time to time. The figures for the
10th were (1700z-1700z) Teignmouth 5.3h, Torquay 10.1h.
Aggregates so far this month are Torquay 110.6h, Teignmouth 88.6h,
Weymouth 76.8h, Portland 74.1h. Torquay's aggregate is higher
than all other UK sites (the next sunniest are along the Sussex coast).
