Default awaiting the onslaught (central Lowlands)

Correction. Haven't heard reports of ball lightning from yesterday.
But that springs to mind something I'd long since forgotten about...
Way back in 1990, unsure of the date - but I do remember it was the evening
that the world cup kicked off (Italia '90) with Argentina V's Cameroon.
During the game our TV screen flickered for a few seconds and then several
seconds later there was some thunder....
....... Next day in the newspapers there was a reported incident of ball
lightning in the nearby town of Belshill, with several eye witness accounts.
I believe the "ball" was seen to travel down a street hitting a few cars on
route. The rest of the story has gone from my memory - I was only 16 at the
time.
I wonder if anyone has more info on this event?
Alex.
