My relatives on Halkidiki (Platanitsi) reckoned it was over 40 on the
beach. Presumably it will always be hotter in the open under the sun?

Kate, ofcourse I was not there and there is no station online that I am
aware of in Platanitsi, but I doubt it was over 40C on the beach anywhere in
Chalkidiki. The -more continental- Polygyros station in the Chalkidiki area
recorded only +31.7C yesterday (+33.2C today). Ofcourse, I could be wrong.
