Well that was interesting.

Thunderstorm developed & I could see lightning off in the distance. So I
shut dwon all the computers. Just in time as a second or so later the power
went down. Came back on quickly. Looking out of the rear window (southwards)
a distinct edge to the cloud & a small funnel - which was small & lasted
only seconds, so I was lucky to see it. Then *Kaboom!* Huge flash of
lightning and boom instantaneous. Cue me leaping several feet of the ground
(well it felt like that) as a lightning bolt struck *exceedingly close by*.
Husband says he saw it strike in the field at the back of the house, but no
obvious signs on the ground. Mind you, there is a power line at the far end
of the field - perhaps it hit that? Then the hail started, but lasted less
than a minute.

Interesting afternoon.
