Default Historical Weather Stations

Can anybody help

I am wondering if there had been any weather stations or rainfall
recording stations in my area of Brampton, Cumbria prior to me starting in
1999.

There used to be a few water treatment works nearby and they sometimes
used to record the rainfall, can anyone remembering any stations around
here or has anyone any old books/magazines/col reports etc

Paul, unfortunately most of my British Rainfalls are still packed up in
boxes following my move, but I've dug out one or two:

In 1966 there were rain-gauges at
Renwick, New Water, Geltsdale, Old Water, Castle Carrock, Broadfield
House, Carlisle, Carlisle Sewage Works, Carlisle Cemetery and Ashycroft

In 1958:
Renwick, Old Water, New Water, Geltsdale, Castle Carrock, Carlisle
Sewage Works, Spital Cemetery (same as above?), Bewcastle

In 1949
Renwick, Wreay Vicarage, Geltsdale, Spital Cemetery, Carlisle Sewage
Works, Carlisle/Denton Holme, Carlisle/Rose Hill, Bewcastle, and
Brampton Secondary School

In 1920
Renwick, Wreay Vicarage, Geltsdale, Spital Cemetery, Carlisle/
Denton Holme, Carlisle/Scaleby Hall, Penton
