I need rain this week to 'freshen up' some of the Mendip caves that
tend to become very smelly and oppressive in late summer. However,
dear old Sump 1 in Swildons rarely looks clean and exciting, no matter
what rain falls. Usually filthy brown with blobs of scum gently
drifting across the surface.
