August vs September

It seems to the ordinary person as though September has been warmer and
sunnier than August. Is there any possibility of this being the case, and
if so when did it last happen?

It's been warmer, drier & cloudier than normal in Penzance. Nights have
been warmer than August, but not the maxima. Notable for last weeks
huge swell, and 3 days of sea fog (as Alan knows!)
August
Av. Max 20.9
Av. Min 13.8
Rainfall 100.2
September (to 27th)
Av. Max 20.6
Av. Min 14.3
Rainfall 36.3
The general impression is of a cloudy, warm month. No prolonged sunny
late summer weather like 2004, when the 1st 9 days saw virtually
unbroken sunshine, with an average Max of 23.8C.
