The sunshines getting almost boring here! 4th consecutive day of virtually
unbroken sunshine, 12th consecutive completely dry day. I know there are
patches of sea-fog, but they are very localised.
Also very warm for west Cornwall in May (16th max 23.2, 17th 23.5, and
today has already reached 23.1 - at 13:50). There has been very little sea
breeze, hence the high temperatures. Went in the sea today (with a
wet-suit!) and was surprised how warm in felt. The water temperature close
in clearly being a good 2 degrees higher than the 12.5 degrees shown for the
west Cornwall coast. There were still quite a few in the sea at Sennen (near
Land's End) at 8pm yesterday.

It's cloudy again. 6 okta CuSc.
Here in the Chilterns this fine spell has, Monday apart, been
much cloudier than the TV forecasts have given credit for.
It last rained on the 8th. Since then the daily sunshine totals
have been:
9th nil
10th 5.6
11th 0.1
12th 0.5
13th 4.7
14th 7.8
15th 6.4
16th 7.6
17th 11.8
(These figures are from a Campbell-Stokes recorder
which over-records sunshine on days of broken cloud)
It doesn't actually seem much different in London, as
the following figures from Hampstead (electronic recorder)
indicate:
9th 1.2
10th 6.4
11th 0.1
12th 0.3
13th 5.1
14th 7.7
15th 7.2
16th 7.7
17th 10.1
This morning's forecast (viewed, not heard)
seemed to indicate unbroken sunshine, which
it ain't.
