insulation in my loft, plus I have 170 mm of insulation under the
floors (a summer long arduous job), and had cavity-wall insulation
done last month, plus with the permissive-E double glazing throughout
I am now astonished at how warm the house is. The thermostat is set
to switch on the heating if the temperature in the hall (coldest part
of the house) goes below 22C, so far this autumn the lowest
temperature in the house has been 23C so the heating has yet to come
on.

I agree - the extension holds the heat very well now as it catches the sun
all day.... the rest of the house is stone so not quite up to regs!


In the evening the lounge easily heats up 26C due to the warmth given
off by the TV and ourselves. If it has been a sunny day then we have
to open quite a few windows because it does get too hot, even at this
time of year. I have to sleep with the window open in the bedroom
because it gets too hot in the room as the night progresses.

Yep - the bedroom windows stays open here until it drops below about 5C
outside!
