Feedback on TWO and uk.sci.weather has been overwhelmingly in favour of a
potential revamp and the first of the new style analyses will be issued on
Sunday. (I'll be leaving for the wolf centre at 4:45z tomorrow, so no
analysis will be issued.)**

Here is a summary of the latest NWP output for noon on Tuesday. Issued
0514z, 27 October 2006.

There will be a big change next week with much colder weather for all for
the start of the month. High pressure near Greenland will bring a northerly
plunge and as the high "topples" over the UK towards the end of the week
widespread frosts are likely.

NNW'lies cover the UK, with a deep low over Scandinavia and a ridge to the
west. The ridge moves over the UK at T+144, leaving to easterlies for
Northern Ireland and northerlies elsewhere. The ridge declines on day 7,
bringing NW'lies to Scotland and northern England with easterlies elsewhere.

The MetO run shows a high to the NW and a mixture of northerlies and NW'lies
for the UK.

High pressure extends southwards from Greenland to the west of the UK, while
low pressure lies to the east of the UK. Winds are strong to gale force;
northerlies for Scotland and Northern Ireland with NW'lies elsewhere. The
high moves eastwards at T+144 with northerlies for all, followed by lighter
NW'lies at T+168 as the high declines over Ireland.
