Am I right in thinking that Braemar is the coldest inhabited place in
Britain?

Hi, Paul,

I think that Braemar is generally accepted as being the coldest.
Doubtless there are some higher spots that are slightly colder on
average, but the fact that it is quite high and also a frost hollow
site with the British low temperature record probably clinches it.

During a recent visit I noticed that the met site had been moved from
the village centre to a spot beside the main A93 road (to Aboyne - note
your recent post!) at River Dee level which looked even more of a frost
pocket than the previous site! I think this move took place during
August 2005.
