Thanks to all who replied to my post.

I had already used MO data from Braemar station, and in the absence of anything
more local will accept that, adjusted to the mean variance.

The results not only appear a good fit, but represent my memory of that period
quite well without any 'manual' tweaking.


Meanwhile, the weather:

The winds did pick up late last evening with some quite worrying gusts. It
began to subside by the early hours, and no harm done in these parts.
