Default Batten down?

Indeed.

With a partially disrupting upper trough I would expect an increased probability
of severe weather in Britain from next Friday onwards. Either in the form of
flooding, strong winds or heavy snow (in the north). DT 12Z ECMWF illustrates
the problems nicely too. As always, some parts, though, will wonder what the
fuss is all about.

Latest GFS output for 06Z this coming Friday is interesting:....

[925hPa wind field]

http://www2.wetter3.de/Animation_12_...Grad/90_10.gif
[10 m wind field]

The coloured contours are Beaufort Force estimates.

A difficult one to call by the looks of things.

Martin.
