Default Windspeed on Thursday

I can recall it only too well as I was on Skye at the time though not
getting the full force of it there. My AWS was ripped from its fittings just
a few minutes after having recorded a gust of 87mph! As I recall the MetO
forecast map for that day showed 45mph for the Hebrides though that was the
midday figure and the full force pf the storm only hit late into the
evening and night.

Some of us remember only to vividly the Hurricane that hit the Outer
Hebrides 11 January 2005. The true windspeed isn't known but it was way
above 100mph.

I have just noticed that The MetO forecast for Thursday is showing a
windspeeed of 60mph for midday across the Outer Hebrides! Must admit I
cant recall seeing a figure that high in the recent past. Wonder what
sort of gusts that will produce?
