Default We have.."localised flooding"

Sorry Brian, we were offline from Wednesday morning until this afternoon
because of a spectacular lightning strike within a quarter of a mile! Whilst
it just tripped my electric breakers it blew apart the BT mastersocket in a
rather impressive way so have been without phone or broadband to up date the
weather site until today. Weather remains very wet and very windy though the
Outer Hebrides seem to getting it a lot harder!
I have now included on the Carbost site data from an AWS in Staffin on the
north of Skye so it is interesting to look at the local variation of data
within a relatively small area.

It really does exist.

Although i measured just 19.3mm there was a lot more rain around the hills
yesterday and the Tay has burst its banks along the valley floor resulting
in the road being blocked into Aberfeldy from the North. Sepa had a timely
and correct warning issued.

I drove the Old Crieff road last night (mostly above 1000 feet for about
15 miles or so) and it was like being on a ship in a film set, during a
storm where great slooshes of water get thrown at the sailors by stage
hands, my window wipers were working overtime and the road seemed
underwater the whole time. Every now and then a huge puddle would grab the
steering wheel away from me and I had to wrestle to get it back, it was
exhausting. The wind was whipping all sorts around too.

By contrast it is sunny and calm this morning.

Heaven knows what it was like on the islands. calling Carbost...
