RMK: Vale of Aylesbury filled with fog; fog top approx
170-180m amsl. Copious hoar ... some rime too, for
instance about 4mm on rain-gauge rim. Did notice some
patchy shallow fog drifting from the north across the
summit of the Downs after 00z last night. Lack of wind
means that it actually feels quite warm in the sun ... vis
above the fog is good and the sky is a moderately deep
blue. (Photos to follow when I have the time).

1150z NW F2 25km VCFG SKC 00.5/-01.1 1040.8
RMK: Top of fog shows a fair bit of turbulence now,
but the level is still about 180m. Bar this morning was
the highest since 15 Dec 2001.

1450z WNW F2 9km VCFG 3Ci250 -00.6/xxx 1040.4
RMK: Hoar/rime have remained all day in the shade;
patchy Ci seems to haved moved in from the east
(although I haven't been watching all that carefully).
Day's max looks like being +1.0 in spite of almost
7 hrs of sunshine.

1750z NW F2 100m FZFG OBSC -03.6/xxx 1041.8
RMK: Fog still quite shallow ... can see a star or two
at the zenith but no more than that. I'd estimate the fog
top at approx 250m amsl.

2250z NW F1-2 150m FZFG SKC -03.4/xxx 1041.6
RMK: Freezing fog (100-300m vis) throughout
Luton and Dunstable, and surrounding areas this
evening; sky brightly starlit here, indicating fog
top somewhere around 220-230m amsl.
