RMK: Fog cleared last night just after midnight, and it was
as clear as a bell when I got up this morning ~08z, but
a bank of fog rolled over the top of the Downs between
0840 and 0850, clearing again 0920-0930z. Never more
than 10m deep. Copious rime, 0.5-0.7mm on some
plants and fencing facing last night's W to NW wind.
Slight glaze on hard surfaces from yesterday's moisture.
Bar reached 1045.2 overnight ... highest since god
knows when, Jan 1992 perhaps.
1044.8 in St Albans overnight and also at the present time (1000).
Alan, I had 1047.2 at 22z on 26 Jan 1992 (I kept an hourly watch
throughout that episode) when Cynwyd in mid-Wales reached
1049.0 which was, I think, the highest sea-level pressure in the UK
since the early-1930s.
